A randomized, placebo-controlled study examined palmar cooling during repeated sprints. The results show: the cooling group maintained sprint performance more steadily, showed a lower heart rate after exertion and reported less muscle soreness 48 hours later.
Between sprint 1 and sprint 10, the cooling group slowed down less on average than the placebo group.
The study reports lower values for heart rate immediately after sprint 10 and for the muscle soreness index 48 hours after the sprint protocol.
